Overview
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) / TOEFL (Test of English Foreign Language) certificates are basic English Language requirements for abroad education and migration.
Objective
- Improve speaking eloquence.
- Enhance vocabulary and reading skills through various test themes.
- Improve students test skills through test practices and helpful examination strategies.
- Expose students to the content and format of IELTS/TOEFL examination.
Course Framework
Lessons conducted are student centred to promote student participation through our integrated study framework involving:
IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
- Listening: Multiple choice, Short answer, Sentence completion, Form/note/summary/flow – chart/table completion, set of notes, summary, flow-chart or table; Labelling a diagram/plan/map.
- Reading: Skimming and scanning for general or specific information (e.g. data/statistics, facts); processing information from academic and authentic sources (magazines, journals and the internet), logical organisation of information.
- Writing: (Task one) interpreting and comparing data; describing tables, objects, graphs and processes; (task two) stating and developing arguments/opinions; problem-solving; presenting information logically, coherently and cohesively; paragraph mapping—introduction, body of ideas and conclusion; sequencers and signalling devices; proof–reading/editing work as part of drafts.
- Speaking: Providing information in a formal interview context; giving an extended talk on a given topic; taking part in a formal discussion; giving a formal presentation/report.
